Rodent Control in Sunland Park, NM
Sunland Park is a New Mexico city of about 16,700 that borders El Paso to the east and Ciudad Juarez to the south.
Sunland Park sits at the foot of Mount Cristo Rey, next to the Rio Grande, in Dona Ana County. It formed on July 13, 1983, when Anapra, Sunland Park and Meadow Vista voted to incorporate, and it takes its name from the Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino inside city limits. Santa Teresa lies to the northwest.
Much of the city borders open desert and hillside, which means woodrats, deer mice and house mice live close to homes. Neighborhoods near the river and the racetrack area have more water and green space, which suits rats and mice.
New Mexico runs its own rules. Pest control licensing there goes through the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, which is based in Las Cruces. Ask any provider you talk to whether they hold a New Mexico license for work in Sunland Park. The New Mexico Department of Health tracks hantavirus in the state, and the deer mouse is the main carrier, so cleanup should follow CDC guidance.
Sunland Park is part of the Las Cruces metropolitan area for statistics, but many residents work and shop in El Paso. That means some providers serve both sides of the state line. Check the license for the state where your home sits.
